The mother-in-law jumped with a DNA test… The daughter-in-law’s answer left all the guests stunned
Bursting through the door, she began regaling her husband with tales of how fun and eventful the evening had been. She excitedly described how her classmates had changed and the successes some had achieved. Ethan listened with a smile, but a shadow of unease flickered in his eyes.
He knew such nights could spark misunderstandings or even conflicts. Still, not wanting to dampen Maria’s joy, he kept his thoughts to himself. Then Maria mentioned a former classmate, Andrew.
Despite being a lackluster student in high school, he’d become a thriving businessman, not to mention handsome and fit. For some reason, she added, “By the way, I dated Andrew back in the day. He was my first love.” Ethan stared at his wife, who’d grown overly candid, and he didn’t like what he heard.
Not that he was seriously jealous, but it still stung to hear. He abruptly cut her off, saying he had no interest in discussing her past or her exes. Then came the day of Liam’s fifth birthday.
Maria meticulously planned the celebration, setting a festive table, inviting friends and family, carefully curating the menu, and decorating the house. Everything had to be perfect. Naturally, her mother-in-law was there, always finding a way to insert herself into any event.
This time, she tried to meddle in the kitchen again, but Maria, anticipating trouble, cleverly handed her Liam and asked her to play with him. It was a sly and wise move by the daughter-in-law, allowing her to finish preparations undisturbed. When everyone gathered at the table, the atmosphere was warm and convivial.
Guests couldn’t stop praising the hostess’s culinary talents. Maria’s dishes were truly exceptional. Conversations flowed easily and casually until the topic of Maria’s recent reunion came up.
Ethan, feeling playful, decided to tease his wife about her high school romance. With a grin, he asked, “So, did you run into that old boyfriend you were so smitten with back then?” Maria blushed slightly but quickly composed herself.
With a light smile, she replied that the reunion was wonderful, but the past was firmly behind her. The guests chimed in supportively, and the conversation smoothly shifted to other topics, leaving only a faint trace of nostalgia and amusement. But her mother-in-law sensed an opportunity.
Elizabeth Andrea, with a smug smile, called Ethan into the kitchen for a private talk. She decided this was her chance to catch her daughter-in-law in infidelity. “Tell me, son, this Andrew guy—has he been living in our town all this time, never left?” Ethan, unaware of her intentions, replied, “I think so.”
Rubbing her hands with triumph, she declared, “Now it all makes sense. Liam isn’t yours—he’s that guy’s. No wonder she told you about him. Get ready, because the real father of that child will show up soon.” Ethan’s jaw dropped. He tried to protest, but she gave him no chance.
Elizabeth Andrea pressed on, reminding him, “Don’t you remember, son, how you and Maria were fighting just before she got pregnant? How she stayed at her mom’s for a few days? Forgot that? Then, out of nowhere, the pregnancy news. Right during that time. You didn’t divorce her because of the baby, and that’s how you patched things up. Look closely—Liam doesn’t even resemble you.” She kept spinning her web of intrigue, relentless. After their talk, Ethan grew pensive.
Later, once the guests had left, he unleashed a furious argument on his wife. “Here’s the deal, sweetheart—either we get a DNA test, or I’m filing for divorce,” he demanded. Maria couldn’t believe her ears.
How could he suggest such a thing? She broke down in tears, hurt beyond words. Then, calming herself, she steeled her resolve. “Fine, a test it is. I have nothing to fear or hide,” she shot back defiantly. “But I have one condition: you take a test too.” Ethan was floored.
