The German Shepherd didn’t enter the doghouse and slept on the snow. Looking inside, the owner was horrified…
Then the German Shepherd looked at his owner pleadingly, as if saying, “Please, don’t try again.” Whenever Andrey moved toward the doghouse entrance, a soft growl followed. The dog was trying to keep Andrey from looking inside the kennel.
The man was puzzled. He had no idea what to make of Graf’s strange behavior, but then he came up with a plan. He quickly headed to the kitchen door.
Once inside, he grabbed a steak from the fridge and began cutting it into small pieces. It was Graf’s favorite treat. The dog wouldn’t be able to resist a bowl of finely chopped steak, Andrey was sure of that.
The only challenge was convincing Graf to come to the kitchen. With the bowl in hand, Andrey went outside and approached the doghouse. As before, Graf jumped up to greet him.
Andrey crouched down and played with the dog, then pulled the bowl from behind his back and let Graf sniff it. The dog nearly leaped with excitement; nothing thrilled him like pieces of fresh steak. But when Andrey stepped back with the bowl and called Graf, it seemed suspicious.
Usually, he got treats at his doghouse, but now his owner wanted him to follow to the kitchen. Graf was confused. He glanced back at the doghouse and whimpered softly.
Then, apparently deciding everything would be fine, he followed Andrey to the kitchen. The dog bounded after his owner, joyfully leaping, eyes fixed on the bowl. The first part of Andrey’s plan was executed perfectly.
He placed the bowl on the floor in the far corner of the kitchen and petted the dog again. Graf began eating. He didn’t try to devour the steak all at once, as most dogs would.
Instead, he seemed to savor each piece. Now it was time for the second part of the plan. Andrey slowly stood up.
He walked backward toward the door, keeping his eyes on the dog. Graf paid him no attention. The man left the kitchen and closed the door behind him.
The second part was successfully completed. He headed to the kennel. Graf realized the trick as soon as the kitchen door closed.
The dog scratched at the door and whimpered plaintively. When it became clear Andrey was ignoring him, he ran to the living room. There were large windows, and Graf could see his doghouse from there…
