Four sisters have come together each year for a shared photograph, their most recent image stirring heartfelt tears…

It was 1975 when Nicholas Nixon, a photography professor at the Massachusetts College of Art, photographed his wife Bebe and her three sisters. The simple yet romantic family photo was a hit with both the women and him.

They made a promise to each other: even if fate scattered them to different corners of the world, they would meet every year and take a family photo.

And every year for many years they kept it. While working on this series, Nixon adhered to two unwavering conditions.

First, the sisters in the picture were always arranged in the same order: Lori, Heather, Bebe, and Mimi, from the youngest to the oldest. Second, each time he chose to print only one frame.

The years passed, fashion, hairstyles, and lifestyle changed, but the only thing that remained unchanged was the strong family bond. 36 years later, Nixon presented the world with a photo project of 36 pictures called “The Brown Sisters,” which visited many famous museums around the world, and the Browns went down in history.

We give you the opportunity to see how four beauties grow up and… age.
